Connect your calorie tracker to AI

Oli is a calorie and macro tracker with a remote MCP server built in. Paste one address into your AI app, sign in, and you can ask what you have eaten, check it against your daily targets, and log meals by chatting, without opening the app.

Works with any AI app that supports MCP connectors. The steps below are for Claude.

There is no key to copy and no password to hand over. You sign in to Oli itself, approve what the app is allowed to do, and that is the whole setup. You can see the connection and disconnect it at any time in the Oli app under Settings → Connections.
What it can do

Eight things you can ask it for

Seven of these read your data. The eighth writes to it. You do not call them by name: you ask a question in plain language and the AI picks the one it needs.

01

Check the connection

Confirms which Oli account the client is talking to, so you can see the link is live before you ask it anything else.

02

A day in summary

What you ate on a given day, totalled and set against that day's targets.

03

Totals over a range

Totals and daily averages across a date range, up to 31 days at a time.

04

Your current targets

The daily calorie and macro targets Oli is holding you to right now.

05

Where you are in your cycle

Your current phase and the targets set for each phase, when cycle tracking is switched on.

06

Individual meals

The separate meals logged in a time window you choose, newest first.

07

Search your history

Finds past meals by description, which is how you get back to the lentil soup you logged three weeks ago.

08

Log a new meal

Describe a meal to your AI client and it lands in your log, estimated by the same AI the Oli app uses.

How to connect

How to connect Claude

Claude is the app these steps cover, because its connector setup is the simplest. Add the address, sign in to Oli when it asks, and pick what it is allowed to do. The first question you ask confirms it worked.

Claude

Settings → Connectors
  1. 01
    Open Connectors in Claude

In Claude, go to Settings and then Connectors, and choose to add a custom connector.

  2. 02
    Paste the server address

Enter https://api.olieat.com/mcp as the server. Claude checks the address and fills in the sign-in settings itself.

  3. 03
Sign in and choose what it can do

Claude sends you to Oli to sign in. You pick whether it can only read your food log or also add meals to it, then approve. There is nothing to copy back.

The edges of it

What the server will not do

It reads and writes food logs

Your entries, your targets, your cycle phase, and new meals you ask it to log. That is the whole surface.

You decide if it can write

Reading your food log and adding to it are approved separately when you connect. Leave the second one unticked and it can answer questions about your eating but cannot put anything in your diary.

Your photos never leave the app

Meal photos are not part of any of the eight tools. An AI app sees the name you gave a meal, when you ate it, and the numbers. The picture stays in Oli.

It cannot touch the account itself

Deleting your account and changing how you sign in are not reachable through the server. Those only happen in the app, by you.

The numbers are Oli’s, not the model’s

A meal logged through the server runs through the same estimator the app uses, so the macros match what you would have got by typing the same description into Oli. The model does not put its own figures into your log.

Privacy

Nothing connects until you connect it

The server sits idle until you decide otherwise. Connecting is something you start, and you sign in to Oli yourself to do it, so the AI app never sees your password. Disconnecting it in the Oli app under Settings → Connections cuts it off straight away.

Once an AI app has read your data, that copy is in that app, and how it is stored and used from there is covered by whoever runs it rather than by us. If you connected Claude, that is Anthropic. What Oli does with your data is set out in the privacy policy.
